About Andy Semmel
Dr. Andrew K. Semmel recently left the U.S. Department of State where he served for more than four years as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy and Negotiations in what is now the International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN) bureau. Prior to that, he served on the personal staff of Senator Richard G. Lugar as his senior legislative assistant for foreign policy and before that as a professional staff member on the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and has taught at the University of Cincinnati and as a Visiting Adjunct Professor in the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University. Dr. Semmel is currently a private consultant.
