His comments make sense to me. He is rational and farsighted. After watching the interview on ABC, I was left with the strong impression that he actually believes what he says. He does not appear to me to measure his words in an effort curry favor with any demographic. I too encourage Hagel to run for president. If he ran, his candidacy would seem serious and substantial when juxtaposed with other candidates in the race on both sides. So many of the other choices are obviously ambitious (Clinton, Obama), but they do not possess readily discernible leadership qualities. I would follow Chuch Hagel into battle.
