Conspiracy Theories
A recent poll by Scripps-Howard found that 33% of Americans believe that the U.S. government either perpetrated 9/11, or allowed it to happen to enable the country to go to war.
What is going on? The theories are absurd – the World Trade Center was dynamited, a missile hit the Pentagon, the government trained the hijackers, etc. They are also easily debunked. Not only by the 9/11 Commission, but also by an exhausitve study by the National Institute on Standards and Technology, and any invetsigative report that bothers to look into the claims of conspiracy theorists (for instance, this one).
They are also insulting. Tell someone who was in the Pentagon, who saw a plane, who nearly died because of jet fuel inhilation, that they were actually hit by a missile. Or tell a family member who received a phone call from someone on board American 77 that this plane didn’t exist, or that it was somehow mysteriously landed in a field where the government executed everyone. It is a mark of these conspiracy theorists that they hold the government to a 100% level of truth – a level that is sometimes simply unreachable. Yet they themselves have no evidence for their own alternative theories.
It is one thing for people with some pyschological need – or simply far too much time on their hands – to indulge these fantasies. But clearly reasonable people are taking the bait. In some circles, it appears to be the intellectually trendy, thing to do. Yes, the Bush Administration bears some blame – for not always telling the truth, for its penchant for secrecy, for initially blocking a full inquiry into pre-9/11 failings. But leaping from that to the denegration of 9/11, the victims of 9/11, and the countless dedicated public servants who defend our national security is a bridge too far.
It’s pieces like this one in Vanity Fair that disturb me. This should not be treated as a charming pop culture phenomenon. People with questions about how 9/11 happened, or about what more the government could have done to stop it, should be vigorous participants in the debate – they should question the government, hold it to account, and point out questions that need answers. But people should ask questions that are just as tough to those who leap to wild and utterly unproven conclusions that the U.S. government carried out the 9/11 attacks – because those claims are corrosive, and wrong.

You are so full of crap and you know it. No plane hit the pentagon. Cell phones didn’t work in planes in 2001. Jet fuel cannot melt Steel I beams. What about the Project for the New American Century’s mission statement? It calls for a Pearl Harbor like Incident that would propel this country into a state of war and unbeknownst to them it lead to mass hysteria and lies on top of lies.
The conspiracy is real, you do not want to face the fact our government is just that evil, and just that corrupt. It is, face it. Your story cannot be backed because the government says so, common sense is strong, science is irrefutable and ignorance is hard to hide.

All i am going to say is this….IF a boeing 747 did indeed hit the pentagon where why doesnt the govt release the GAS STATION and HOTEL cemera videos ???? I am ’sure’ the plane will be cleary seen there since NONE of it was left after the crash.

Why’d the government Lie about 9/11? I’ll answer that.
People ask, What motives could possibliy drive the USA to commit an act such as 9/11?
I’m going to say it in the most simple terms, because things get very simple when you think of it on a global scale.
1. Billions upon Billions generated in iraq everyday going to our Greedy statesmen’s pocket’s, by way of a fascist (corporate-run) government.
2. Complete and Utter Shock and Terror due to terrorism that doesn’t exist
3. Control of the Sheep-People VIA a false made-up need for “national security” (Remember, the terrorists never did it to begin with).
This was the same way Hitler began to control his people, through mind control, through a madeup need for “national security”
4. Raping of our constitution through such heinous acts such as the “patriot act” and “homeland security” which allow total control of our most private information’s, tapping of our phone lines, etc… All in the name of TERRORISM WHICH DOESN’T EXIST.

i believe al-qaeda did attack us. that much is pretty much certain. i’m sure a plane hit the pentagon. i believe the other things too…
but i also KNOW that the US fully knew what was happening.
The US was informed by Isarel that al-Qaeda was preparing to hijack planes and fly them into the twin towers. Israel removed its personell from the towers a week before the attacks. canadian, russian, and CIA intelligence also specifically warned about the attacks.

IF, and it’s a strong if, jet fuel is capable to fatigue steel to the point of failure, then everytime a jet engine would run more than 30 mins it would collaspe on itself. Mind you, the combustion chamber in any Jet engine is made of similar grade steel and would undergo far greater temperatures and stress than the WTC ever experience.

The real conspiracy theory is the offical government theory. Let me ask you Ben, if a 757 hit the Pentagon, WHERE IS IT??? Where are the 2 9-foot steel titanium Rolls Royce RB211 engines? Sorry, in the real world, these cannot simply disintegrate upon impact. Last time I checked, steel is stronger than concrete so steel would NOT disintegrate like your government says. Also, why was the only engine found a 3-foot engine, coincidently the same size as the Global Hawk engine? What a coincidence. So far, all the evidence points to a conspiracy. Go to the official FBI most wanted page on the web. Osama Bin Laden is right up there on the list. He may even be No.1! However, you will not find the FBI linking him to the most catastrophic “terrorist” act in the history of the united states. Several truth seekers have questioned the FBI on why it 9/11 is not stated on his list of known criminal activities. Their reply? There is not enough evidence to support this claim. So, it’s ok for the US government to bomb the crap out of afghanistan on the previso that they’re trying to find this known perpetrator, yet the FBI won’t even ammend their website to include 9/11 in his list of crimes?
The simple fact is this. There are numerous things that need to be explained and are being ignored. Any patriotic citizen of a truly democratic nation should want the answers to any questions casting doubts like these to be resolved.
You can remain a skeptic, you don’t have to believe. Just ask for the questions to be properly adressed instead of ignored. The 9/11 commission report didn’t even mention the collapse of the third tower. How can anyone consider this a comprehensive, difinitive report when a whole building, which collapsed without having a plane hit it, be completely omitted. The people that lost their lives deserve more than this.

It’s amazing that almost 5 years after this event happened that people just can’t pull their head out of their ass long enough to educate themselves. The World Trade Center came down in a controlled demolition. WTC 7 came down 8 hours later in a controlled demolition when nothing even hit the building. Where are the parts to the plane that hit the Pentagon or the flight that crashed that supposively was to hit the Capitol Building or the White House? Where is the COMPLETE video of the plane hitting the Pentagon? Bush knew, follow the money. Bush was sitting in a classroom reading to children on 9/11 so gullible Americans would think he had nothing to do with it because they were made to think, “How could Bush have done it he was reading to school children?” The worst part about this, these people actually think BUSH CAN READ!

How can a plane with a 124 foot wing span only make a 16 foot hole? What about reports of secondary explosions in the WTC? Why don’t you look up what Bush said he was doing when the first plane hit? He says he saw the first plane hit on TV in the school as it happened. How could that be possible if there was only one video released not until the day after? How about the firemen from Battalion Seven who were on the 78th floor of the South tower who said that there were 2 isolated fires that can be knocked out with 2 lines? Isn’t that one of the floors that the plane hit? If the heat from the fire was so intense that it could melt steel, how could a fireman say that the fire can be knocked out with 2 lines? Point by point:
The conspiracy theories are insulting.? To whom? And in what way? I would love to talk to someone who was at The Pentagon and saw a plane. Got any names? Of course the families of those who died have suffered terribly, including those people who died on American 77. The question is what series of events led to their death. Defenders of the current explanations tend to point to those who have suffered incalculable loss, beat their breasts, and then move on to their real agenda. As you have done.
And rather than take a cold hard look at the message, let’s attack those who bring the message by suggesting they have a pyschological need to indulge in fantasy, or even worse, let’s accuse them of having too much time on their hands. Oldest trick in the book, discredit the messenger, then you don’t need to answer the questions they might have raised.
And could you please explain to me how looking for the truth about the events of 9/11 is in any way denigrating to the victims, the survivors, and the countless dedicated public servants who defend our national security?
And I would agree that making false claims is corrosive and wrong. Things like claiming there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq maybe? I’d also like to point out that a theory is not a claim of truth. A theory is an unproven possible answer to a question or questions. The theory that seems to answer the most questions is the winner, until another theory comes along to displace it. That’s what empirical knowledge is all about.

Of the many thousands of people who are joining the “9/11 Truth Movement”, most have done hours upon hours of research into the events of that day. The movement includes many professors, experts, military officers, public officials, eyewitnesses and emergency personnel that either have first-hand knowledge of that tragic day or have spent many hours investigating to quiet the screaming questions in their hearts and minds. This is not a movement of fools, which has no basis in reality. Do the facts point to a large conspiracy on the part of our government and military? Yes! What those of us who have joined the movement have come to realize is that the official story is much more of a wild concocted theory than what we have concluded through our own intensive research and investigation. It, too, represents a conspiracy on a monumentous scale. There are still many family members of loved ones who died on 9/11 and suffer still to this day because the 9/11 commission did not and will not answer their questions. I’m not a fan of conspiracy theories. I’m a busy student who spends free time reading international news and liberal news. There’s too many flaws with the events in 911. When I first saw the collapse of the first two builds I was astonished that a terrorist cell was able to rig that whole place with modern explosives like they were explaining all day. I know it as a controlled demolition as clear as day. I was just confused that they never explained the stroy as a demolition. There was thermaete found in the air dust and rubble. This is a signiature element to modern demolition explosives. The pentagon video one out of hundreds of camers around the nations most secure nuildings showed no plane. That’s evident their own video proof is proof against them. This wouldn’t be an issue if it was just a conspiracy theory. Building 7 I believe was demolished for certain but they say the fire dept. did it that day. It takes weeks to set up those explosives. That’s why they closed off 30 floors at a time while they claimed to be inspecting the two main buildings for electrical shortages. weeks before many officials were in those buildings, my friends older brother saw those agents nearly everyday blocking off many office floors. Learn for yourself. Stop being such a mindless tool and open your mind. You believe in authority I believe in myself. You puppet, Iether your profitting from your lies or your just to cowardly to look at the reality.

You’re incredibly wrong. The only thing ‘insulting’ about this entire situation is that people like you can sit around and write this manipulative garbage. Since day one people have been doubting the official reports. Funny, the Government even refuses to address the issue even though national polls show that over 30% of Americans feel that something quite suspicious has happened. And now people that seek the actual truth are being labled as “Non-Patriotic”. That couldn’t be more wrong. I love my country. I love what it stands for. I love the life anyone can make for themselves here. And the facts are that all of those things are changing. I’m an engineer and the government’s official version defies physics, their explanation of the collapse of WTC 1, WTC 2, and WTC 7. It’s not that hard to see the egregious holes in the government’s story.
I even have had people in mainstream media admit to me, in writing over email, that they know the story is crap but are censored by the paper they work for.

Here’s a kooky little conspiracy theory for y’all… they’re using this blog as a way to identify and locate all of us so that when they revoke the constitution, replaced by FEMA taking control with a shadow government under Martial Law, then all of us dissentful individuals can be rounded up and put into all of the empty, ready and waiting concentration camps that exist already in all 50 states.
The point to my rant is this… I don’t necessarily believe this, however I’m open to it being possible and I’d like to find that it’s not possible and it’s not true. So I research, and encourage others to research.
If there was no-one open to these zany idea’s being possible, no-one willing to have the courage to find out, imagine how easy it would be f a reigeme in say a fictional future wanted to take control.
It’d be as easy as… “Lets just do something so kooky, they’d never believe it. Wow, wasn’t that easy, they didn’t even question it because it was so far outside their realm of possibility!”
In all seriousness now, it may not be a fictional future where this could happen, it could be happening now. I admire those who are willing to ask the questions that look like dumb questions. Dumb questions prevent dumb mistakes. Oh, and can there really be such thing as a dumb question? In essence questions are asked to increase knowledge, so the very act of asking is smart in itself.

I am sure the right (reich?) is working to make an example out of all those pointing the finger at them. They want to make an example out of us like they did the people who died in the WTC and the soldiers who continue to die. A battle to see who can make who look like the villian happens especially before the elections and the possble change in control. From all the evidence and witnesses, it seems clear that this administration played a part in 9/11. Too bad that if it does get any real acknowledgement, a lot of rich and powerful people who rely the system to maintain their wealth will be really angry. They wil continue to use, against the people, the same terror/fear tactics that they claim to be saving us from.

The facts are irifutable, the building fell straight down and was not knocked over. Common sense about science explains that. The weightk, the impact and degree of fire could not even come close to harming the speacial grade steal beams in the infrastructure of the Twin towers. The some thing happend to the empire state building in the late 50’s when a boeing airliner crashed in to it and burn for two hours and the building didn’t even budge. I for one don’t think that a “Missile” hit the pentagon. Think about it, if they used planes on the towers, then why not on the pentagon? I think the whole missile theory is to bait dissenters into believing in something that seems true at face value but can easily be debunked. Once enough people start to buy into it the government will release the other videos showing a plane smashing into the pentagon and then label ANY dissenters as kooked out conspiracy tin-hatters. I think the real answers lie in why NORAD stood down. Had NORAD followed basic, standard procedure the second plane should not have been able to hit the second tower. Also why weren’t Surface to Air missiles primed and ready to launch around Washington D.C. like they where in every other terrorist attack in American History?

The hole in the pentagon was 16 feet wide….A boeing 747 will not fit into a 16 foot wide hole. There are unbroken windows on either side of the impact point where the “plane” hit the building.

I want to see the Gas station and other company cameras that will easily show a plane hittin the pentagon. I also would like to know why are some of these hijackers still alive. I would also like to know why the fact that Bin Laden was a C.I.A. tactician and our government never told America about that. 9/11(the new Pearl Harbor) was perpetrated by both Christian and Jewish Zionists, that infiltrated the government decades ago as a pretext to invade Iraq since they want control of the massive oil reserves in the Middle East. It doesn’t matter anymore how the buildings in New York came down – what matters are the repercussions to America from that horrible day. The Patriot Act basically annulled the constitution. We are now prisoners in our own country people.
The U.S. Government is a corrupt, warmongering, racist group of corporate misers. They care nothing about the American people, nor any other people for that matter. And I for one am tired of being Israel’s lapdog paying out my hard earned money in taxes to support their genocide in the middle east. sorry but I’ve pointed prominent 911 truthers to claims on 911myths and they failed to address them other than to say that they were aware of the site and will get around to countering – that was 8 months ago and still nothing as far as I can see. Certain sectors of the religious right are hi-jacking this cause for there own political ends, it stinks. Steven Jones’s only other academic paper is about how Jesus travelled to South America, it reads like a high school essay. Griffin rants on in writings elsewhere about the Christian duty to instigate a moral crusade against evil doers. If these people invested as much energy investigating corporate corruption, the industrial loby, and American foriegn policy, then I think we might be able to change something. What if (as mountains of evidence suggests), many of these theories are TRUE? How ‘insulting’ is it to want the TRUTH to be known about the most appalling atrocity in American history?

First of all stop using the victims of 9-11 to debunk us. It’s a disgrace to the memory of those died and their families to stop us from finding the truth. Second show me footage of a plane hitting the pentagon(you know the ENTIRE building is surrounded by camera’s you can see every angle of the building) they showed us endless footage of the planes flying into the WTC why not the pentagon as well???? Even on the news footage of outside of the pentagon there is a small hole in the building not nearly big enough for a plane and no plane debris on the ground explain this to me also. Here we go, classic example of what I was talking about, do you serioulsy expect anyone with a brain to listen to a guy who talks about 9/11 in the context of ‘demonic consciousness’? Then Bushes defence might well be “the devil made me do it!”
David Ray Griffin is presenting a workshop on the theme of 9/11 and Demonic Consciousness as part of The Eighth International Conference on Science and Consciousness, Santa Fe, NM, April 21-26, 2006.
My thesis is that the attacks of 9/11 were products of demonic consciousness, with “the demonic” understood as an emergent reality that is diametrically opposed to the creative power of the universe and strong enough to threaten its purposes. To explain how demonic power can arise in a monotheistic universe. I use the philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, with some help from Carl Jung. Then to explain how demonic evil arose historically, I employ ideas from Andrew Bard Schmookler’s Parable of the Tribes. Finally, arguing that this demonic consciousness now exists most powerfully in the USA, I suggest that a preeminent manifestation of it in our time was 9/11, orchestrated by the Bush-Cheney administration. In making this latter argument, I will draw on my two books on the subject: The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11 and The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions.
Goal: To show the possibility of a view of demonic evil that is realistic — doing justice to the way in which our collective lives are dominated by values that can only be called demonic — without being mythological.
Learning Objectives:
To develop a basic understanding of how Whitehead’s version of theism allows for the rise of demonic evil,
to develop a sense of how the ideas of Schmookler and Jung can explain the historical rise of demonic evil, and

All I have to say is that if there were nothing to hide, the government should reveal it all. Especially when it’s something to THIS particular magnitude. If you’ve looked into any of the “confidential” records that have been declared public… I’m sure you’d see they don’t tell us alot of things.

You should take great comfort in the fact that this truth-seeker, a former CIA official, was also bamboozled by the corporate media for five years.
Yours truly spent only about one and one-half years in the dark, probably mostly because I have not watched television since 1994, and because my reading and experiences had already made me skeptical of the government/media complex. Thus I was already more inclined to question government/media claims.
You seem to believe that it is the “far left” that is convincing people, but one of 9/11 truth-seekers’ main frustrations is the EXTREME timidity, the church-mouse silence on the matter, of NEARLY ALL of the “left” “progressive” publications, pundits, websites, blogs, talk show hosts, etc. They have come to be called “the left gate-keepers.” Like the proverbial dog in the manger they not only neglect the vital information they have access to, but also keep it from everybody else. Fear is the main factor here: fear of losing their grants, being black-balled by colleagues and sources, being called “conspiracy theorists,” irresponsible, irrelevant, etc. And fear of being targeted for career and/or physical harassment or termination. Actually some of the most courageous and eloquent 9/11 “detectives” are conservatives, like Paul Craig Roberts, who was a high official in the Reagan administration, Wall Street Journal writer, etc.
Thus your “useful tool” hypothesis don’t hunt.

….Let’s address the real issues here. Why is it important that we not let the so-called conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 be drowned out? After spending the better part of the last five years treating these theories with utmost skepticism, I have devoted serious time to actually studying them in recent months, and have also carefully watched several videos that are available on the subject. I have come to believe that significant parts of the 9/11 theories are true, and that therefore significant parts of the “official story” put out by the U.S. government and the 9/11 Commission are false. I now think there is persuasive evidence that the events of September did not unfold as the Bush administration and the 9/11 Commission would have us believe. The items below highlight the major questions surrounding 9/11 but do not constitute a detailed recounting of the evidence available….
….This should be worked on at two different levels. At the first level, the objective should be long-term, centered on making a maximum effort to find out who the individuals and groups are that carried out the attacks in New York and Washington. Then, these people should be tried in an international court and, if possible, convicted and punished for causing so many deaths. Such a trial, accompanied by actual change in U.S. policies, would show that some people on this globe are at least trying to move closer to more just and decent behavior in human relationships around the world.
At the second level, the short term, the task should be to immediately set to work as hard as is humanly possible to defeat in this year’s congressional election any candidate who refuses to support a no-holds-barred investigation of 9/11 by the Congress or a high-level international court. No more evidence than is now available is needed in order to begin this process.
A manageable volume of carefully collected and analyzed evidence is already at hand on both items ONE and TWO above. Such evidence should be used right now to buttress charges that elements within the Bush administration, as well as possibly other groups foreign or domestic, were involved in a massive fraud against the American people, a fraud that has led to many thousands of deaths….

What we’re going to talk about is the post-World War II history of the world as I see it. and that history is essentially the story of empire. During the period since World War II, we’ve managed to create the world’s first truly global empire, and it’s the only empire in history that’s ever been created primarily without the military. It’s been created through economics, through economic hit men.
And it’s a very subtle empire: it’s an empire that many of us who live in that empire don’t realize is an empire. We wouldn’t even call it that. When you create an empire as the Romans did or the Persians or the Chinese or the conquistadores or the British Empire or the French or the Dutch Empires, through military, everybody knows you’re doing it, because all your young men, and sometimes women, are going off to fight in the wars. But when you create an empire through economics, it’s very possible to keep that pretty secret from most of the people, most of the time. Nonetheless, we’ve created an empire….
….It was a change of consciousness. Civil movements are powerful. I think there are a few of you out there who may be familiar, I’ve written five other books before this one on indigenous people and shamanism. That was when I was doing the nonprofit work which was partly assuaging my guilt. I took bribes not to write this book back in the early 1990s and put most of the money in the nonprofit, which went to helping indigenous people in many of the countries that I had ripped off before. But what I’ve learned, I’ve worked with many, many indigenous countries around the world, the Bugis of Indonesia, the Bushmen, the Zulus, the people of the Asian Steppes, the Mayas, the Hopi, the Quechua, the Shuar, all of these people have prophecies. Every one of them that I know of has a prophecy that we are in a time of tremendous transition and a potential for great things to happen. I was with the Dalai Lama not long ago in Ladakh, and I just came back from Tibet a few months ago. And those prophecies are everywhere. I believe that we’re in a time when it’s been prophesied that this is the time for potential change, not that change will happen, but that the potential exists and we have to do it.
And I believe what the indigenous people have always taught me throughout the years from many, many different cultures, that each one of us comes into this body at this time with a mission for a reason. And our schools often teach us to forget about that. But here we are now, at this very critical time. Each of you has come in here at this time for a reason with a mission, and you’re sitting in this room now for some reason. Something drew you here today. The idea of a confession of an economic hit man. I don’t think you’re all Catholic priests waiting for someone to confess into your ear out there. What drew you here? Why are you here this time? I think you’re here because you’re ready to see us move to this next step. You’re ready to see us realize the dream of our founding fathers, you’re ready to see us create a world that we’re going to be proud of.
I’m going to turn 60 in a couple of weeks. I have a 22-year-old daughter. I don’t know how much time I’ve got left on this planet, but I do know that I want to devote all of what I’ve got left to making this a better world for her and her generation than the one I would be leaving her if I were to leave right now. So here we’re poised at this amazing time in history, a time that’s been prophesied by all these cultures. Here you are sitting here in the wealthiest country that history has ever known, tremendous resources, tentacles that reach to the farthest corners of the planet, the ability to do remarkable things, to create the world that we all want to see created. And so I submit to you that it’s now time to get off our butts and let’s get out there and change this world. Thank you.

have you even read the 9/11 Commission Report? it doesn’t “debunk” anything! it’s an “investigation” that does not even address the basic evidence. the commission was directed by someone with 15 years association with the Bush Administration. hhmmmm… i wonder if he has an biases or a hidden agenda..?? and, yeah, take your own advice and go talk to someone who was working in the pentagon that day. there are several pentagon employees who say IT WAS NOT A PLANE THAT HIT THE BUILDING. these employees never even saw wreckage that would indicate a passenger plane had just hit the building— and this was right after it had happened! you are right on one thing though, clearly reasonable people ARE taking the bait, but it’s not the “conspiracy theorists.” it’s the rest of the country who swallows the government’s propoganda instead of researching the truth for themselves. how long will you allow yourself to be spoonfed? do some research yourself and actually read the materials that you base your beliefs on.

I am all for it. I wonder how many folks actually use these. I built a small store that grew into over 100 thousands items. Its crazy how fast it grows!. Anyway. I agree!

I see there are many very smart people here. Most agree evil exists. It is difficult to make the paradigm shift from innocence to paranoia. Paranoia definition: the ability to take seemingly unrelated events and come to a conclusion which is not obvious to the majority.
Now, that we know the truth, what are we going to do about it? There are more of us than there are of them.
